Kidsave is an international nonprofit organization with the mission of transforming the global child welfare system so that no child is left unattended, and every child grows up in a loving family with hope for a successful future.

Since 1999, Kidsave has operated family placement programs for children residing in Russia’s state orphanages.  At present, the organization has programs in Moscow, Smolensk, Saint Petersburg, Yaroslval and Sakhalin.  Over the past 10 years, Kidsave has helped over 1,500 children find a family or lasting support from a caring adult.  Still hundreds more children will be able to find families or mentors and develop the necessary skills for leading an independent life, thanks to Kidsave’s training programs and advocacy work.
 
Kidsave has successfully developed and realized its program in Russia, and strives for its various programs to become an essential part of Russian society, implemented by local governments and supported by local businesses.  One way to accomplish this goal is through the development of training manuals and the implementation of various seminars and training programs for government and social workers and guardians.  To date, Kidsave has trained over 500 social workers who, over the next five years, have the potential to make a positive difference in the lives of more than 125,000 Russian orphans by placing them with loving and caring families.

We believe that every child needs a family.  Only caring and loving parents can provide the best conditions for the emotional and intellectual development of a child.  The only way to effectively help orphans find a family is to create the necessary conditions in society to support a family placement program.  The childcare system must be designed to identify and arrange for a family for each and every child and provide comprehensive support for host families.

Through cooperation with our Russian partner, the nonprofit organization Right of the Child, Kidsave is working with federal and regional authorities to improve the legislative framework which will help guarantee that abandoned children and orphans can live in loving families, and that these families can receive necessary and timely help and support.
